ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH

Having lived my whole life in a big city, it is always fascinating for me when visiting the country sides where the environment is not dominated by buildings and cars. This is a picture of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park when I went to Tasmania. What makes this picture so beautiful isn't just what is shown but also the idea of how nature just works itself out. None of the components are symmetrical or are placed methodically and yet everything seems to be in order and in place and more importantly a sense of peacefulness and harmony is achieved.

GREAT PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE

The Pantheon, built by the Romans in 118 AD, is one of the most fascinating piece of architecture ever. Not only does it houses the largest concrete dome that is not reinforced till this date but its manipulation of sunlight into the interior of the building to achieve certain effects at specific dates must require extreme precision. And to think of the mathematics behind the structural support and the limitation of materials and machinery back then, this is undeniably a great piece architecture.

CREATIVE WORK

This is a model of Villa Muller by Adolf Loos that I made with Sketchup. Being one of the staples of early modernist architecture, it's meticulous manipulation of space in the interior (Raumplan), treating the whole villa as a continuous space, is what makes it special. Other than that, the use of Cipollino marble and exotic wood in the interior also sets the villla's mood/character apart from other buildings from its time.
